A video of two mischievous elephants stealing sugarcane from a truck that stopped next to them at a red light last week has gone viral. The tuskers were travelling on a heavy-load lorry when it stopped at a red light in Nakhon Sawan in northern Thailand.
The video shows the elephants using their trunks to grab the delicious snack. The video which was filmed by Sunisa Champangern was shared on Twitter by IFS officer Susanta Nanda.
“I’ve occasionally seen elephants being transported before but it was a coincidence that they stopped next to a truck with food on. They were reaching across to grab a snack from the other lorry. It was carrying sugar cane from a farm,” Daily Mail quoted Sunisa as saying.
“I think the driver will have a hard time explaining why some of the crops are missing. I thought it was very funny to watch,” she said.
The hilarious video, which is being widely shared on Facebook and Twitter, has garnered more than 1.8 lakh views. Netizens were amused with the video. Check out how they reacted:
One user remarked, “Not a single cane dropped. I couldn’t eat that neatly.” Another joked, “Be it animals or humans, doosre ke bagiche ke aam, amrud aur ganna khane ke maje hi kuch aur hotey hai :):)”
Someone said, “Thank god they are yet not thinking of going off sugar, considering everyone’s dieting these days.” Yet another wrote, “Smart one pulling out as much as sugarcane as possible before truck moves.”
Last month, a video of an elephant climbing over a 5-foot wall to steal mangoes from a safari lodge inside the South Lungwa National Park had gone viral.
