Two critically endangered Sumatran tiger cubs were born at San Diego Zoo Safari Park on July 12th. Wildlife care specialists say the cubs, a male and female, are nursing frequently and that Diana is a very attentive first-time mom. This adorable duo will remain in the den for about two months to bond with mama until they begin showing signs that they are ready to explore the larger habitat at Tiger Trail.
It is estimated that only 400 to 600 Sumatran tigers remain on Earth, making the arrival of these cubs even more critical to SDZWA’s global conservation efforts.
