This is the incredible moment an elephant gets in the way of traffic by taking a nap across the road. Motorcyclist Nattawat Patsungsing, 57, was late for work because the stubborn beast lied for about 20 minutes in Nakhon Ratchasima, northeastern Thailand. Mr Patsungsing, who filmed the stunning Indian elephant from his car, had to stop and stay silent to avoid the creature charging in.
The footage begins with Mr Patsungsing slowly driving towards the elephant. After zooming in, one can see the animal moving its legs and flapping its ears in a deep sleep.
Finally, the elephant kicks his legs up.
It stared at Mr Patsungsing as he slowly turned away. Mr Patsungsing said: ‘Oh boy… you are taking all the way. Can you move, little boy? I have to go to work.’
He was also heard calling the elephant ‘sir’ while it remained perfectly still.
Speaking later, the driver said wildlife officials had told him in the area that the troublesome elephant was named Nga-Thong – which means ‘golden tusk’ in Thai.
Officials say the monster often lies on the concrete road to get warm.
Mr Patsungsing added: “Nga-Thong doesn’t like to reveal himself when the road is crowded with cars and buses are noisy, so the national park staffs see him most of the time. They said he was timid.
‘I was waiting for about twenty minutes until he finally got up. I was late for work that day, but I was glad to see him so close. ”
